When too much is a bad thing?

As men we are socialized by pop culture to buy into this notion that if we pack on the muscle we'll get the girls. A lot of guys who buy into this paradigm will show respect to the guy in the weight room who is bench pressing 400lbs but yet this "man's man" has no neck and the sight of him freaks the opposite sex to the point where the guy couldn't get laid in a whore house with a fist full of fifties. `Well the truth is that the overwhelming majority of woman don't like the body builder physique, they like a little bit of muscle but lean and cut is what usually attracts them over the short and stocky look more distinctive of "Shrek". In fact, there is a company called Adonis which uses a popular concept from art called the golden ratio as an ideal  proportion that exists in nature that defines something as beautiful or inherently harmonious in it's form which has symmetrical balance of a ratio of 1 to 1.6. Essentially those who have this measurement in facial features, come as close as possible to beautiful, which most of us believed was in the eye of the beholder. Humans perceive subconsciously if a piece of artwork, an object, a creature, or a fellow person deviates from this formula it is definitely something we notice and we do not collectively categorize this as something true to it's ideal form. Basically the way it essentially works is that biologically men whose shoulder measurement around should be 1.6 times the width of their waist. If they achieve this proportion, women will flock to them. it's something that is inherent in our biology over years of evolution or time or whatever theory you prescribe to. Much of this comes from socilized norms that are transmitted through movies where heroes like James Bond adhere to this formula and thus the perfect body is not the one of body builders like Arnold Schwartznegger are not the archetypes that attract the females. Kind of commonsense I realize but I still see so many fools in the weight room lifting heavy weights in order to increase their max as their ultimate objective. I lift weights to be healthy and to get girls! I'm being true to the game player!
