If you are supplementing with Protein powder and is wondering when is the best time to take it then read on. We know that protein is essential when it comes to building muscles, we get protein from food and supplements (powder). The question is, when is the appropriate time to take your protein powder? There are at least three crucial times to ingest protein powder. First is right when you wake up and I will explain it, so you sleep at least 8 hours, which means 8 hours of fasting. When you wake up you have to feed your muscles with fast acting protein which means 40-60 grams of whey isolate mixed with 50 grams of fasting acting carbs. So the first protein powder session is right when you wake up. The second time is right after a tough workout, and this is very important, because if you bust it out for and hour and a half, you pretty much depleted everything from your body and muscles. Which means, this is a perfect time to feed the muscles with fast acting protein, again whey isolate (40-60 gms) mixed with some fasting acting carb drink (50-70 gms of carbs). Now the third one is a different kind of protein powder. Right before you go to bed mix 2 scoops of whey casein powder and enjoy. The difference between casein and isolate is that casein is slower acting which means your body will absorb the nutrients slowly while you are sleeping, kind of like building muscle while you sleep. There are of course other times you can take protein powder but I think these are the most crucial times if you want to build muscles. So shake things up and you're on your whey.
