I lifted weights a lot in high school and was generally pretty active and healthy. After that my activity slowed down drastically and I put on some weight. Did 'Body for Life' about 9 years ago, it worked and I lost 30 pounds in 3 months (putting me back to my high school weight, WOOT!) but the diet I was doing wasn't something I could stick with and I wasn't ready to make the commitment to eating healthier anyway.
I've tried a few things over the years to figure out what worked for me and what dietary changes I was willing to make and I think I'm finally at a place where I know what I need to do and how to eat to maintain the weight I want to be at.
I have lost 20 pounds over the last 2 years, which is great but I don't want to take another 4 years to hit my goal. I've got 40 pounds to go and I want to be back in my snowboarding pants by winter!
