iFit Member Highlight: Wendy Scofield

Meet iFit member Wendy Scofield. Through proper nutrition, diligently working out, and a whole lot of hard work, she’s lost 143 pounds…and she’s still on a roll, with only 11 to go until she reaches her goal weight!
Here’s her interview with iFit:
1. How long have you been an iFit member? When did you join?
I’ve been a member since February 2019, so going on almost 2 years!
2. Which machine do you own?
I own the ProForm 505 CST Treadmill.
3. Who is your favorite trainer?
My favorite trainer would have to be John Peel. My very first workout was with him, and his easygoing and encouraging manner set the tone for my entire iFit experience. That being said, I love all the trainers at iFit!
4. What is your favorite series?
My favorite series is the Costa Rica Walking Series with John Peel. The scenery was just amazing.
5. What are 2–3 series you’d recommend to a new iFit member?
I would highly recommend the Southern Utah Beginner Hiking Series with Ashley Paulson, the Grand Canyon Hiking Series with John Peel, and the Easter Island Walking Tour with Dr. Dale Simpson. If you’re interested in running, Tommy Rivers Puzey’s Iberian Beginner Running Series is a great one. I don’t run or jog, but I know so many people that love this series.
6. What’s been your proudest moment since joining iFit?
My first proudest moment was when I reached the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro with iFit Trainer Jake Norton. The next would definitely be when I lost 100 pounds!
7. What advice would you give to new iFit members who are just beginning their weight loss journey?
Take the time to sit and browse the Library via the iFit app on your phone or tablet. I spent hours combing through the Library and adding a variety of workouts to my Favorites. Some were easy, and I knew I could do them right away. Others were progressively harder and became something I have striven for. I still have some Favorites that I haven’t tried yet, but I’m still challenging myself to work a little harder every day, so I’ll get to them eventually! I’d also recommend scheduling a workout with every trainer, because they all have slightly different training styles. They can each teach you something new about fitness and a healthy lifestyle!
8. What do you like most about iFit?
I love the automatic control of the speed and incline on my treadmill. That’s what sold me. As I’ve lost weight, I’ve been able to increase my pace and advance to workouts that were more challenging. Having the pre-programmed speed and incline makes it easy to push myself to work harder.
9. How do you stay motivated?
I’ve been overweight my entire adult life. Over the years, I’ve tried to lose weight, but I always gained it back. I finally got to a point where I was sick and tired of being sick and tired. I knew that as I got older, my health was going to be in jeopardy. Now, the success I’ve achieved is what motivates me every single day. It’s also nice getting up without aches and pains, walking up stairs without getting winded, and being able to shop for clothes in the same department as my sister. I weigh less than I ever have, and I feel amazing!
10. Where are you on your fitness journey?
A photo was taken of me on Christmas Day in 2018 and it shocked me to my core. I finally realized just how out of control my weight had gotten. I knew I had to do something, so on January 4, 2019, I began a 1,200-calorie, low-carb, high-protein diet. I weighed 304 pounds at the time. I’ve since lost 143 pounds and I’m 11 pounds away from my goal weight. I started using my treadmill about a month after I began to diet, and I’ve never looked back.
11. What’s something unique about you?
I’ve worked for the same company for almost 36 years. I feel so blessed to have a job that I love. On a more personal level, I’m also a cancer survivor. I was diagnosed with leukemia in 2009, and I’ve been cancer free for 10 years now!
