It’s time to make your vacation work for you and your fitness goals. Laying by the pool with a good book in the sun does wonders for your mental health, so let's round it out by tying in your physical health by keeping active while you're away from home. There are countless ways to get moving while on vacation, so here's a few to keep in mind when planning your next trip!
You can always count on the iFIT App to get a good workout in no matter where you are. Whether you're in a beach condo or nestled in a cabin in the mountains for the week, you'll have iFIT's massive workout Library at your fingertips. Get into strength workouts, yoga, HIIT, Pilates, and more with expert trainers who do the planning for you. Just press start and get your daily movement checked off your list. This month, check out our Workout on the Go Collection in the home screen of your iFIT app or browse section.
If you're on vacation in a big city, it doesn’t mean all your options for fitness are lost. Choose a place to explore. Wander museums, walk the streets, or explore a farmer's market. Exercise doesn’t have to be excruciating and heart-racing every time. Sometimes it’s just choosing to walk instead of grabbing a taxi. After you've downloaded the iFIT app, catch an audio-only workout or choose a workout unpaired to have your favorite iFIT Trainer coach alongside you!
Don’t forget hotels have gyms. Wake up early and get your heart rate elevated with a mix of resistance training and cardio. You can also do an iFIT workout unpaired on the gym's equipment or depending on the type of equipment, pair via bluetooth. If your hotel doesn't have a gym or basic equipment, head outside. Are there stairs nearby? A playground? You may have to get a little creative, but you don't need much to fit in a good workout.
If you’re in a location where you can do this, choose an active mode of transportation like a bike. A bike may slow you down a bit, as it will take you longer to get places, but it's a great way to experience the city and culture, save on rental fees, and burn some calories.
If you plan your vacation around hanging out at the hotel’s pool, chances are you'll be sedentary. Try to squeeze some activities into your vacation like going on hikes, mountain biking, walking down the beach, or anything else close by. Don't place the focus on being active the entire day. Instead, find activities that genuinely interest you so they feel fun and exciting (and not like chores).
