6 Reasons You Should Work out with Your Significant Other

READ TIME:2 min.

I’ve seen the benefits firsthand from my clients who train with their significant others, as well as from my own experience training with my husband. It’s really such an amazing way to connect and strengthen your relationship, and if you’re not already doing it, here are six reasons why you should start:

1. It holds you accountable.
When you have a workout buddy, you’re much more likely to stay on track because you have someone to answer to. And who better to answer to than the person you’re closest with? During your workouts, focus on motivating each other and staying positive.

2. It fuels healthy competition.
I don’t know about you, but I love a little healthy competition. Whether you’re racing each other or seeing who can do the most reps, some friendly and flirty rivalry can go a long way. Plus, who doesn’t love bragging rights?

3. It guarantees quality time together.
Life can get really busy, really fast. So why not kill two birds with one stone? (Those two birds being exercising and spending time together.) Even if all you have time for is a quick walk around the neighborhood, do it side by side. That quality time can help you both de-stress and reconnect.

4. It builds self-confidence.
It’s no secret that being healthy and fit increases your self-confidence. When you try something new or push hard on a run together, it’ll make you both feel strong and confident in yourselves and your relationship.

5. It shows that you care.
Because you love your partner and you want them to be healthy, exercising with them is a great way to show that you sincerely care for their well-being. Striving to be healthy together is a unique way to express your love and appreciation for the other person in a kind and genuine way.

6. It’s fun.
When it comes down to it, there’s really nothing better than having fun and spending time together. Fitness can be one of the best ways to play, unwind, and bring happiness to your relationship.
Well, there you have it! I hope this post motivated you to want to exercise with your significant other, and consequently, strengthen your relationship.

Good luck!
