iFit in the News

As a global health and fitness company, it’s been devastating to witness the impact of COVID-19 around the world. We, like many of you, have been changed by this historic period in time, but we know things will get better. We’ll come out stronger on the other side of this—together. Our goal is to offer support, and we want to do our part in providing help with COVID-19 containment efforts. We are in the business of helping people focus on their health and well-being. We know exercise provides physical and mental health benefits, especially during a pandemic. In an effort to keep people healthy and slow the spread of COVID-19, we are donating 1 million medical-grade surgical masks to the State of Utah. Donating these masks is a natural extension of our mission to help our employees and our community lead healthy and balanced lives. Additionally, we are donating hundreds of thousands of masks to the City of Logan, Logan Regional Hospital, Logan Police and Fire Departments, Utah State University, Cache Valley Hospital, local nursing homes, and essential workers in the Logan, Utah area, where our company is headquartered. We are also sending a supply of masks to the homes of our 1,400 employees. In the end, this is not necessarily about masks—it’s about people. It’s about helping people in whatever way you can. Donating these masks is one way we can help.Scott Watterson, CEO and Chairman of iFIT Prior to the donation of masks, we took the following steps as a company to help slow the spread of the virus and protect our employees, their families, and our customers. At the end of January, we restricted employees from attending the ISPO trade show in Germany. Starting the first week of March, we canceled all international business travel. We brought back all of our traveling team members who create Global Workouts around the world. We required any employee who traveled outside of the country to a level 3 or 4 country to quarantine for 14 days before returning to work. On March 5, we joined other major fitness companies and withdrew from the IHRSA trade show. On March 13, we enforced a work-from-home policy, company-wide. Over 90% of our workforce is currently working remotely. For in-office employees, we started checking temperatures and providing medical-grade surgical masks at the start of each workday. We implemented a 6-foot social distancing rule in the workplace. We restricted entrances to reduce the amount of contact between employees. We developed stricter cleaning protocols and opened stations with cleaning wipes and hand sanitizer. We restricted outside visitors to ICON and created a new meeting policy, allowing only a maximum of three people to meet in person. We implemented curbside, contact-free delivery of our products in areas under stay-at-home orders. On March 18, any previous iFit user was given access to the paid subscription without further payment commitments. We shut down our workout studio and started filming workouts from our trainers’ home gyms across the country. That way, our members could still get the same great workouts. We launched the new iFit app on phones and tablets, giving people the opportunity to work out at home—with or without equipment. The app initially wasn’t going to be released until October 2020. We’re so grateful for the hard work and long hours that our team put in to deliver this content early to all of our members. DOWNLOAD THE APP If you or a loved one has been directly or indirectly affected by the virus, our most heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with you. To those that are sick, we wish you a quick and full recovery. To all of the courageous healthcare providers, medical professionals, first responders, and essential workers putting your life on the line, you are our heroes. We admire and applaud your incredibly selfless efforts. Stay safe. Stay healthy. We’re all in this together.

With the explosion of the connected fitness category, streaming platform iFit has raised $200 million to compete with Peloton. Colleen Logan, VP of Marketing for iFit, joined Cheddar to discuss Colleen Logan, Vice President of Marketing for ICON Health & Fitness, appeared on Cheddar, the live and on-demand video news network focused on covering the most innovative products, technologies, and services. When asked how iFit fits into the realm of connected fitness, Logan responded, Where we are very distinctive in this, exploding connected fitness marketplace, is that iFit is interactive. iFit is interactive with our equipment, trainers, workouts, and members. She went on to explain that when an individual is working out on iFit-enabled equipment, they are able to travel virtually to exotic locations all over the world. iFit sends film crews, along with world-class trainers, all over the world to record workout adventures that are accessible right on the customer’s machine. iFit’s technology uniquely adjusts the speed, incline, or resistance to match the exact topography of the trek, along with the trainer’s instructions. Filming on 7 continents and in 40 countries, there is a wide array of workouts for every fitness level, from browsing Christmas markets in Germany to hiking Mt. Kilimanjaro. When asked how iFit keeps up with other competitors in the connected fitness space, Logan answered, “We are interactive, so that makes us distinctive, but we also have a huge variety of products: cycles, treadmills, incline trainers, rowers, ellipticals, and strength machines. And then we have a terrific range of price points, as well.” We don’t think fitness should be a luxury. We think people of a wide range of ability to pay and different types of modalities should enjoy the connected fitness trend that iFit offers.

Joe Jackson, Outside's resident "Gear Guy," quit the gym for his NordicTrack Rower with iFIT workouts. PHOTO: OUTSIDEONLINE.COM "The RW900 has solved my motivation problem. That’s mostly thanks to the 22-inch touch screen, from which I can select a number of [iFIT] guided exercises. Think a 12-minute simulated saunter down the Kafui River in Zambia, or 35 minutes of lung-busting interval training at the pre-recorded hands of instructor Jay Wein (who magically seems to know when I’m no longer engaging my core). And Olympic gold medalist Alex Gregory has started to feel like an old friend—or, a tape of him has. He regales me with stories of his races on the UK Olympic crew team while we virtually hammer down iconic European rivers together. It feels like I’m not suffering alone."
