INTRODUCING ALTRA IQ
iFit has partnered with Altra to bring you your own running coach in a shoe. This app will guide you on the move to help you become a better runner. It measures and coaches you live on cadence, landing zone, impact rate left to right and ground contact time, as well as the usual metrics (pace, distance, etc.). It does this with a razor thin sensor embedded into the midsole of an Altra shoe (FootShape toe box, zero drop). Currently, this technology is available in the Torin but it may be available in other models in the future.
Features:
Let's dive into all of the features.
- Cadence: In regards to running, cadence is the total number of full cycles taken within a minute by the pair of feet. The IQ app tracks cadence live and gives you tips to keep your turnover at the appropriate rate for your pace.
- Landing Zone: Your landing zone refers to your foot strike metrics. The IQ's sensors run along the full length of each shoe so they can detect where the foot is landing and how your stride is changing over the length of your run.
- Impact Rate: This refers to how hard you hit the ground with each step. The IQ App measures your overall impact rate as well as your left to right balance. It provides live coaching tips to help you become lighter, more efficient and balanced.
- Contact Time: Ground contact time is the amount of time each foot spends on the ground during your stride. Along with cadence and impact force, this metric helps determine the best stride for you.
If you want to improve your running the Altra IQ App can help you do it. You can download the app on the App Store or Google Play.
