Introducing SmartAdjust™ for Your Treadmill: iFIT’s New Personalized Workout Experience

READ TIME:2 min.

At iFIT, we’re focused on giving you a truly interactive workout experience. That’s why iFIT-enabled equipment automatically adjusts your speed, incline, and decline during your workouts. However, that experience isn’t just about climbing hills or challenging yourself. We’ve extended it to a new feature called SmartAdjust: our latest tech that tailors your workout to your individual fitness level!

What is SmartAdjust?

SmartAdjust automatically scales your workout as you make adjustments to either the speed or incline, so you can always follow along with the trainer—but at your own pace.

Say goodbye to those constant manual adjustments; your workout intensity is now calculated automatically based on your previous workout history. With SmartAdjust, you’ll experience a workout tailored specifically to your fitness level.

Ready to try SmartAdjust? Join iFIT Trainer Gideon Akande for an introduction to this new feature in the Intro to SmartAdjust workout.

Note: SmartAdjust is not currently available for manual workouts.

Equipment required for SmartAdjust

Use SmartAdjust on your iFIT-enabled treadmill or iFIT-enabled treadmill that connects to the iFIT app on a tablet via Bluetooth®. (This feature is not currently available on phones.)

How to use SmartAdjust

First, verify that you are on version 2.6.70 or later. If you are on this version or later, you can try out SmartAdjust today! Here are instructions on how to check the app version on your equipment. Once your equipment has been updated, here’s how to use SmartAdjust:

Step 1: Start a workout

To try out SmartAdjust, select any treadmill workout from your Home screen or Library.

Step 2: Trainer notification

Once the workout begins, you’ll receive a trainer notification during your warmup, informing you that we’ve taken your past workouts into account to craft a personalized session for you.

While SmartAdjust is on, feel free to change the speed, incline, or decline of your workout, so it feels comfortable for your pace and fitness level.

Step 4: SmartAdjust learns

Over time, SmartAdjust learns from these actions and caters the workout to your fitness level, balancing it with your trainer’s instructions.

Step 5: Turn off SmartAdjust

You can turn off SmartAdjust at any time by tapping the screen, then switching SmartAdjust off in the bottom right corner.

Step 6: Follow trainer

If you turn off SmartAdjust, you’ll return to following the trainer-led workout.

Step 7: You're in control

If you make adjustments to speed or incline with SmartAdjust off, you’ll be in control of your speed and incline. You can click the Follow Trainer button at any time to return to the trainer’s prescribed workout.

SmartAdjust settings

To set your starting state and max speed, follow these instructions:

  • Tap the three horizontal lines in the top left corner of your screen to open your side menu.
  • Tap Settings.
  • Tap In Workout.
  • In the Personalized Training section, use the toggle to turn on or off SmartAdjust. This will determine the starting state of the feature. If you turn the feature off, SmartAdjust will be turned off when you start your next workout.
  • You can also set a Max Treadmill Speed. By setting this, your speed will not automatically increase above this number during a workout when SmartAdjust or ActivePulse are enabled. You can override this at any time during your workout.

We’re always working to improve your workouts by raising the bar to give you a truly personalized experience. We hope you enjoy this incredible, new feature as you work to achieve your fitness goals with iFIT!
