10 Healthy Holiday Activities

The holidays are here! Shopping, parties, and traditions are probably on your mind. With so much going on, it’s easy to forget to stay active. So we put together 10 quick-and-easy ways to stay moving during the holidays!

1. Go shopping.

Instead of ordering online, get out of the house to shop for your holiday gifts. Take your time walking around the mall to get extra steps in!

2. Walk to see the lights.

Even though it’s cold out, bundle up and go see the lights! Whether it’s at a lighted venue or just around your own neighborhood, this is an easy way to get moving and enjoy a holiday tradition.

3. Work out to a Christmas movie.

While you’re watching your favorite movie, commit to these exercises:

  • 1 squat every time someone says “Merry Christmas”
  • 5 jumping jacks every time you see a Christmas tree
  • 10 push-ups every time you see Santa (or a character dressed up as Santa)

4. Fit in a workout.

Whether you have 10 minutes or an hour to spare, try fitting in a workout when you can. It could be a long run or a quick HIIT session at home. Here are a couple workouts to try:
PACIFIC VOYAGE
Take a trip to the Pacific islands with these 12 workouts.
20-minute Tone
Busy week ahead of you? Try these short, toning incline trainer workouts on hectic days.

5. Put up your neighbor's Christmas lights.

This is a double whammy! Serve your neighbor this season and burn twice as many calories as you would have by only putting up your lights.

6. Carol throughout your neighborhood.

Take a walk around the neighborhood and carol your favorite Christmas songs! (I had neighbors carol at my house last year and it instantly got me in the Christmas spirit.)

7. Sign up for a race.

Start a new tradition and sign up for a race (or a fun Santa run) with your friends and family.

8. Go indoor rock climbing.

The weather outside may be frightful, but there’s nothing like a climate-controlled, rock-climbing gym to make you sweat.

9. Visit your local trampoline gym.

The holidays bring out the inner child in even the most serious adult...why not take it a step further by jumping around your local trampoline gym? You’ll burn a ton of calories and have an amazing time.

10. Do a group fitness class.

Grab a friend and make your way to a cycling, yoga, and/or pilates class. After you’re done putting the hard work in, head over to your favorite cafe for a round of hot cocoa (or make some at home using one of our recipes!).

Explore Heart Rate Training with the ActivePulse™ Training Series

When it comes to a customized, interactive workout experience, it doesn’t get better than heart rate training. Our new, groundbreaking feature called ActivePulse uses your heart rate to personalize your workout. It’s the newest way to experience an interactive, personalized experience with iFIT. What is ActivePulse? ActivePulse is iFIT’s first heart rate training feature, designed for users who want to get the most out of their workouts. With ActivePulse turned on and a Bluetooth®-enabled heart rate monitor connected to your treadmill, the intensity of your workout will be automatically adjusted, based on your target heart rate zone. You will automatically be sped up or slowed down in order to maintain the ideal heart rate zone for your workout. This includes recovery, speed, or strength runs! Ready to explore ActivePulse? Try the ActivePulse Training Series! If you’re ready to try this new feature and put heart rate training to work for you, join the ActivePulse Training Series that covers all the basics of ActivePulse and heart rate training as you explore beautiful San Diego. Filmed in 2019, this six-part program is led by iFIT Trainer Tommy Rivs Puzey. Together, you’ll run through San Diego as you learn how to use the ActivePulse feature. You’ll also learn about the five heart rate zones, cardiac drift, and how your heart responds to stress. As you explore different zones, Tommy will continue to adjust your workout in order to set the perfect intensity for your fitness level.
