READ TIME:3 min.

Are you ready to kick off your Fourth of July weekend by testing your stamina and speed while crossing the finish line in a challenging and rewarding race? Then join us as we bring all of this excitement right to you with the Live Crown City Classic 5K Race!

Meet up with para-athlete and iFIT Trainer Kirstie Ennis as she races alongside you and other competitive runners in real time! Experience the competitiveness and exhilaration of a race as you run through an unforgettable 3.1 miles.

Are you ready to run the Crown City Classic 5K? Here’s what you need to know!

How it works

On July 3, 2021, at 10 a.m. ET, join Kirstie on your iFIT-enabled treadmill or elliptical. Don’t have a treadmill or an elliptical? You can also participate through your iFIT app on your smartphone or tablet. Take your race outside or to your local gym and join us!

You’ll virtually connect with Kirstie as she starts at Tidelands Park, where you’ll run a scenic route overlooking Coronado Bridge. After running (or walking) an incredible 3.1 miles, you and Kirstie will cross the finish line back at Tidelands Park. The best part is that you won’t be doing this alone—run or walk the race in real time along with an entire community of iFIT members!

No worries if you can’t make the event live—the Crown City Classic 5K Race will be available to all iFIT members in the iFIT Library. Run with Kirstie by the Coronado Bay whenever you get the chance, and you can use it as a way to practice for the next live race!

When you cross that finish line and complete the race, you’ll receive a limited-edition finisher’s medal—only available for those participating in the live race. We’ll send an email after you’ve completed the event with instructions on how to claim your exclusive reward.

Joining the race

Join us at the Crown City Classic 5K Race by tapping the “Live” icon on your iFIT-enabled treadmill, elliptical, or in the iFIT app. Join up to 10 minutes ahead of the start time, then scan the QR code to ask Kirstie your pre-race questions. She might just answer them during the race!

About iFIT Trainer Kirstie Ennis

Kirstie is an inspiring and motivational figure who has dedicated her life to serving others ever since joining the US Marine Corps. After losing her leg in Afghanistan and being forced into medical retirement, she founded the Kirstie Ennis Foundation. Its mission is to inspire others and provide opportunities to minority communities, such as disabled women.

If running a foundation wasn’t enough, Kirstie still finds time to adventure all over the world. Currently, she is tackling the Seven Summits, climbing the highest peaks of every continent!

Luckily for you, she will be your guide as you both race through Coronado Bay at the Crown City Classic 5K Race!

Training for the Live Crown City Classic 5K

It doesn’t matter if you’re a seasoned runner or just a beginner. It’s always a good idea to train both your mind and body for an upcoming race. Where to start and what you need will be dependent on your fitness level.

If you’ve never run a 5K before, try the Run Your First 5K Series with iFIT Trainer Knox Robinson. In this series, Knox will guide you through a workout regimen he designed that will focus on your form and technique, all while exploring the beautiful landscapes of Oregon.

However, if you are focusing on improving your time, check out the Costa Rica 5K Training Series. iFIT Trainer Tommy Rivs Puzey will guide you through 35 running workouts. Each workout focuses on improving your race time while you enjoy the stunning sites of Costa Rica.

If you’re somewhere in between, check out iFIT’s two-part training series with John Peel. In the 5K Training Series Part 1: Vietnam, John will take you on walking and running workouts as you explore some of Vietnam’s most iconic locations. When you’re ready, meet back up with John in the 5K Training Series Part 2: Romania, and learn all about the country’s rich history as you train to run for 30 minutes straight!

No matter when you start training, make sure you join us for the Live Crown City Classic 5K. We hope to see you at the starting line! Don’t forget to check out the rest of our 2021 schedule so you can plan out your next race!
